There are three types of marks: trademarks, service marks and collective marks (for convenience, we will refer to all three as "marks" or "trademarks").

A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol, device, or any combination thereof presented in one or more colors, which is used to distinguish the goods of one enterprise from those of others.

Service marks are the same as trademarks except that they distinguish services rather than products. 

A collective mark is a word, phrase, symbol, device, or any combination thereof serving to distinguish the goods or services of members of the association which owns the mark from those of nonmembers.

In Vietnam, trademark rights may be acquired only through registration, except for the well-known trademarks as provided in Article 6bis of the Paris Convention.

We provide the following legal services for Trademarks:

5. Providing advice on and proceeding with the recordal of assignment of pending trademark applications;

6. Providing advice on and proceeding with the recordal of changes concerning pending trademark applications, such as, the name or address of the applicants, the list of goods/services, or a sample of the trademark;

7. Providing advice on, and proceeding with the recordal of changes concerning the granted Certificates of trademark registration upon their assignment and merger; or recordal of change of name and/or address of the owner of the Title of protection.

2. Providing advice and representing clients in works concerning the renewal of the validity of certificates of trademark registration, including:

1. Advising and proceeding with the renewal of the validity of certificates of trademark registration;

2. Advising on the use of registered trademarks.
